Mind Viruses are like religions. At their most extreme they can motivate their host to become suicide bombers or assassins. In todays America we are witnessing a mental derangement like never before. In our past, we have seen mind virus infections like Heavens Gate, People’s Temple & the witch hunts of the 17th century. Today the term ‘Woke’ has been called a mind virus because its adherents have a religious zeal in their support for identity politics.

So where is Truth? Today we have a world of competing truths, one in which there is no agreement on the definition of certain words or terms. America has become a tower of Babel where communication & reconciliation is nearly impossible. The attention economy has turned into a war of competing factions. Even BurningMan is becoming ground zero in a culture war where there is no neutral ground. Last year, supporters of Israel & Palestine were covering over each other’s flags & memorials in the Temple.

Todays world is engaged in vast online conflict. This is WW3 as it was described by Marshall McLuhan in 1970. Now at the beginning of the year 2025, we entered a new world of radically fractured reality, where there is not one truth, but an infinite number of truths. Black & white exists only in the individual mind & there are no longer any grey areas. The radicalized individual mind of today strives to impose its reality on the world by any means possible, even at the cost of its physical host.

The entire world is now fractured with belief systems at war. I fear that ’Heil Hitler’, ‘Allah Akbar’ & ’Free Palestine’ will be remembered as equivalent slogans in our time, demanding obedience to a religious mind virus paradigm that requires the death of all non-believers.
